Feeds allow you to see when websites have added new content. You can get the latest headlines or updates as soon as they are published, without having to visit the websites you have taken the feed from. Here at Yakyak every time we add a new product you will be notified by your RSS feed.

How do I start using feeds?

In general, the first thing you need is something called a news reader. This is a piece of software that checks the feeds and lets you read any new articles that have been added. There are many different versions, some of which are accessed using a browser, and some of which are downloadable applications.

There are two easy methods. One is to use the feed reader that comes with Internet Explorer (which is the software most of you use to look at the internet or slightly more advanced is to use Google. The second method involves seting up a personalised homepage with google first.

Once the reader is set up all you do is click on the "Link to RSS feed" link and the rest is explained to you as you go.
